Kurt A. Ulmer Kurt A. Ulmer, born June 24, 1978, is the son of Robert and Martha Ulmer. He has two brothers and two sisters. Kurt received Holy Baptism on July 16, 1978 and was confirmed on May 2, 1993 in the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. He met Alissa Purcell at Truman State University in Kirksville, MO where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. Kurt and Alissa were joined in Holy Matrimony on June 2, 2001. After living in Lenexa, KS for two years where Kurt worked for his father’s construction company, the couple moved to Fort Wayne, IN where Kurt began his theological training at Concordia Theological Seminary. Kurt was assigned to be the field worker at Zion Lutheran Church in Garrett, IN, for the first two years of his seminary career. His third year of seminary was spent in Lockport, IL where he had been assigned as the vicar. On May 16, 2008 Kurt graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary, receiving his Master of Divinity. Rather than taking a call right away, he stayed at the seminary for the next two years to work on obtaining a Master of Sacred Theology. On February 4, 2010 Kurt and Alissa were blessed with the birth of their first child – Adeline Cristine. Then, during the February 25 call service at Concordia Theological Seminary, Kurt was placed as the pastor of Shepherd of Peace Lutheran Church in Braidwood, IL. He was ordained into the Office of the Holy Ministry and installed at Shepherd of Peace on May 22, 2010.
